We did not set out to build a moderation company. We set out to run communities we cared about, and we kept watching them get worn down by the same problem: scams and spam always arrived faster than any human team could respond.

The problem we kept hitting

Every community we joined told the same story. A handful of volunteer moderators, awake at different hours, trying to hold back a tide of bots and impersonators that never slept. The moderators burned out, the members lost trust, and the scammers moved on to the next server to do it again.

• Attacks came at 3am when no moderator was online.

• Rules were enforced differently by each person.

• Good members quietly left when it stopped feeling safe.

Why existing tools fell short

The tools we tried were built around keywords. They caught yesterday’s scam and missed today’s. They needed constant manual tuning, and they treated every community as if it were the same. We wanted something that understood behavior and got smarter over time.

We were tired of choosing between a safe community and a lively one. You should never have to trade one for the other.

What we set out to build
