# Members

> View, search, and manage roles for every member collony has seen in your community.

The Members page lists every user collony has encountered in the current project, along with their assigned roles, message counts, and emoji activity. Use it to assign roles, search for specific users, and navigate to individual member profiles.

## Roles

collony uses four roles with distinct permission levels:

| Role | What they can do |
| ------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Owner** | Full control - manage the project, all settings, roles, and moderation |
| **Admin** | Manage settings, channels, content, and moderate users |
| **Moderator** | Delete messages, mute and ban users |
| **Whitelist** | Bypasses malicious content detection only - no moderation permissions |

A user can hold multiple roles. Roles stack - a user with both Admin and Moderator has the combined permissions of both.

## Assigning roles

Click **+ Role** next to any member and select the role to assign. You can assign admin, moderator, or whitelist from the member table directly.

To remove a role, open the member's profile page and manage roles from there.

<Tip>
  Assign Whitelist to verified team members, partner accounts, or long-standing contributors who consistently trigger false positives. It lets them post freely while keeping full moderation active for everyone else.
</Tip>

## Searching members

Use the search bar to find a member by @username or display name. The **Active only** filter narrows results to members who have sent at least one message in the selected date range.

## Sorting

Click any column header to sort by that field - useful for finding the most active members or identifying accounts with no message history.

## Member details

Click any row to open the member's full profile. See [Member Details](/member-details) for what's available there.
