# Chat commands

> Moderate straight from your Telegram group or Discord server with /mute, /ban, /fp, /whitelist and more, and see who can use each command.

Moderate from your community chat without opening the app. Commands work in every Telegram group and Discord server connected to the project. The same list is on the **Guide** page in the app.

## Who can use them

Project owners, admins and moderators. Chat admins on the platform count too. Anyone else gets a short "admins only" reply that deletes itself after a few seconds.

* **Discord**: native slash commands. Type `/`, pick the command from Discord's menu and choose the target with the user picker. Only you see the response. Typing them as plain text also works.
* **Telegram**: group admins get the same commands in the `/` autocomplete menu.

## Commands

| Command | Alias | What it does | Example |
| - | - | - | - |
| `/whitelist` | `/wl` | Whitelists the user. Their messages skip malicious content detection. | Reply with `/whitelist` |
| `/unwhitelist` | `/unwl` | Removes the whitelist role | `/unwhitelist @username` |
| `/role` | `/roles` | Shows the user's project roles | `/role @username` |
| `/mute` | | Mutes the user. Add a duration (`30m`, `2h`, `1d`), or leave it out for a permanent mute. | `/mute @username 2h` |
| `/unmute` | | Lifts a mute | Reply with `/unmute` |
| `/ban` | | Bans the user. A duration works on Telegram (`1d`). Discord bans are always permanent. | `/ban @username` |
| `/unban` | | Lifts a ban | `/unban @username` |
| `/unrestrict` | | Lifts every restriction (unmute and unban) | Reply with `/unrestrict` |
| `/forgive` | | Clears the user's warnings, resolves their active incidents and lifts any mute or ban | Reply with `/forgive` |
| `/falsepositive` | `/fp` | Marks the user's latest incident as a collony.ai mistake, reverts its actions and lifts any mute or ban | Reply with `/fp` |
| `/userstats` | `/stats` | Quick summary: messages sent, warnings, first and last seen, 7-day sentiment | `/userstats @username` |

## Picking the target user

On Discord, slash commands ask for the user with a picker. Text commands find the user in this order:

1. **Reply** to one of their messages. This is the most reliable way and works even if they have no username.
2. **Mention** them: `@username` on Telegram, a regular mention on Discord.

> [!TIP]
>
> On Telegram mobile, tapping a command in the `/` menu sends it at once. Swipe-reply on the user's message first, then tap the command.

The bot must have seen the user at least once, meaning they sent a message in a connected chat. Otherwise it cannot identify them yet.

## Running alongside other bots

Using Rose, Combot or a similar bot in the same group? Commands addressed to another bot, such as `/stats@combot`, are ignored. If a bare command triggers two bots at once, address collony.ai directly, for example `/userstats@CollonyBot`, or use the alias that does not clash.
