# Assistant

> Ask the collony.ai Assistant how anything works, or tell it what to change in your project. It summarizes your week and waits for your approval.

The Assistant is an AI inside the app that answers questions about your community and makes changes to your project for you. Open it from **Assistant** at the top of the sidebar.

> The Assistant is in beta and can make mistakes. Keep **Ask first** on to review every change before it applies, and double-check its answers.

## Ask or tell it what to change

Type in the box, for example a question, a request or an update you want reflected in the bot. It can only do what your role in the project allows.

* Press **Enter** to send and **Shift+Enter** for a new line.
* You can send one message every 30 seconds.

### Starter prompts

Below the box, starter prompts are grouped into four tabs: **Understand**, **Protect**, **Write** and **Set up**. Click one to send it. For example, under **Understand**:

* "Summarize this week"
* "Why was the last member banned or muted?"
* "Who are my most active members?"
* "How is the mood in the chat?"

## Ask first or Auto

Choose how the Assistant applies changes, next to the message box:

* **Ask first**: each change waits for your approval before it applies. Recommended.
* **Auto**: changes apply as soon as the Assistant makes them.

## Recent changes and history

**Recent changes**, on the right, lists every change the Assistant made in this project, from any conversation. Click **Audit Log** to see them with everything else in the [Audit Log](https://www.collony.ai/docs/audit-log.md).

Messages the Assistant posts as the bot are marked **Sent via the assistant** in [Chat History](https://www.collony.ai/docs/chat-history.md).

Open **History** at the top to go back to an earlier conversation.
